« L’instant déplacé »
Captures presents “L’instant déplacé”, an exhibition by Japanese artist Yuki Onodera. Bringing together four series and previously unseen works, the exhibition synthesizes the practice that this internationally acclaimed artist has developed over nearly forty years.
Photography is a central means of expression for Yuki Onodera. In recent years, she has explored the recomposition of her silver gelatin prints through collage and large-scale formats, producing numerous experimental works that question “what the photographic medium is” and “what photography can do”.
Thus, she creates her images by altering the conventional use of the camera, constructing narratives in the studio from historical or legendary events, or traveling to the other side of the world to photograph according to a protocol that proposes alternative narratives.
